Our Story

Solution Exchange was developed over 2004 by the UN Country Team in India, from an initial premise that UN agencies could be successful brokers of knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of a country’s development efforts.  Three years were allotted to transform this premise into a tangible result, at an estimated cost of $3.5 million.  This “Development Phase” saw many accomplishments and important lessons learned.  The subsequent spinning off of Solution Exchange Outreach adapted the model to different Country Team situations and national environments.  Countries adhering to the model have gained significantly, but the effort is still in its beginning stages.  There is much more to learn as the effort expands within Asia and beyond.
